Frizzell to Produce That’s The Way Love Goes A Benefit for Singer Songwriter Whitey Shafer

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sept. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- Nashville's Artist to the Stars, Corey Frizzell, is teaming with Country Star, Jerrod Niemann to produce the star studded event, “That’s The Way Love Goes - A Benefit for Legendary Singer Songwriter Whitey Shafer.”

“Whitey has suffered from recent health issues with mounting bills. He means a lot to me and to Country Music. When I was told what the Shafer’s have been dealing with, I decided I needed to do something for this Icon. So I called some friends and got to work.” – Corey Frizzell

The Benefit will take place Tuesday, October 7^th at Downtown Nashville’s Honky Tonk Central (3^rd Floor) with performers Jerrod Niemann, Lee Roy Parnell, Ken Mellons, Daryle Singetary, Billy Yates, Dallas Davidson, Rob Hatch, Lance Miller and special surprise guests.

Tickets are $20 at the door only, with limited seating. Doors open at 6pm with the show starting at 7pm. Honky Tonk Central is located at 329 Broadway, Nashville, TN 37201. Several Country Music and Whitey Shafer related auction items will be available at the show along with donation boxes to contribute to the cause.

Whitey Shafer began his musical career in the town where he was born, Whitney, Texas. He moved to Nashville in 1967, where he signed his first publishing contract with Blue Crest Music Publishing Company.

In the early 1970's, Whitey signed an exclusive contract with Acuff-Rose Music. In 1972, “That's The Way Love Goes,” became a #1 hit for Johnny Rodriguez. Shafer wrote four songs for George Strait's 1985 album “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind,” which received the Album of the Year honors from the CMA and the ACM. In 1987, “All My Ex's Live In Texas,” written with his wife at the time, Lyndia Shafer, also became a #1 hit song and was nominated for a Grammy and CMA Song of The Year.

Whitey has written with and for some of the greatest Artists and Songwriters known to Country Music. He befriended Lefty Frizzell, with whom he began co-writing. Their collaborations included "That's the Way Love Goes" and "I Never Go Around Mirrors," two of the most well known songs in Frizzell's catalog. "That's The Way Love Goes" was also recorded by Johnny Rodriguez and Merle Haggard. "Rainbow In Daddy's Eyes" is an all-out, pure country weeper recorded by Johnny Bush; "I Wonder Do You Think Of Me" was recorded by Keith Whitley. "All My Ex's Live In Texas," "Overnight Success," "Lefty's Gone," and "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" were just a few of the songs recorded by George Strait.

Whitey has written over 500 songs and continues his hit songwriting career with artists such as John Michael Montgomery, LeAnn Womack, and Kenny Chesney.

Corey falls in the middle of the six children spanning four decades of Allen Frizzell, former Nashville recording artist and younger brother of the Legendary Lefty Frizzell and Country Star, David Frizzell. Corey has been a Golden Gloves Boxing Champion, acted in music videos and cast for two roles in the original Stephen King movie, “Children of The Corn.” If that's not interesting enough, he's now a writer, producer, manager, boxing coach and visual artist in high demand, creating custom portraits of the stars for the stars.

In 2006, with royal country music blood running through his veins, Frizzell came full circle being named Nashville’s Artist to the Stars for his artistic collaboration with some of Country, Bluegrass, Gospel, Americana and Roots music's biggest names, including George Jones, Randy Travis, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson, Mark Newton, Carl Jackson, Mark Chesnutt, Gene Watson and Jerrod Niemann to name a few.
