SALT LAKE CITY - Sept. 28, 2014 - PRLog -- With looming news of additional regulations regarding pesticides and petitions circulating to save the bees by reducing or eliminating the use of certain products and ingredients, there has been an increased attention on the development of new paradigms in mosquito control. As a byproduct of uses in other areas, a company called Ergofito has reason to do additional testing on a product they have developed called NutriVex. In partnership with Ergofito, local marketing firm Jennifer Mason and Associates has submitted an expression of interest for a grant to be administered by the Innovative Vector Control Consortium, or IVCC.

The IVCC is a non profit based in Liverpool. Their mission is "to save lives, protect health and increase prosperity in areas where disease transmitted by insects is endemic." Currently, they are reviewing the expressions of interest for a grant that is to be funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, who also have a program developed in 2013 called "Accelerate to Zero" that focuses on the elimination of Malaria.

Jennifer Mason and Associates heard about the IVCC grant through the Southwest Mosquito Abatement and Control District, where Sean Amodt is working in conjunction with Dr. Andrew Barnum and Dixie State University on testing in mosquito control using NutriVex. The team, in conjunction with other consultants and mentors, hopes to use the grant to study the effects of NutriVex on mosquitoes and the environment in the field and on a broad scale. NutriVex will also be presented by Amodt and Mason at the United Mosquito Abatement Association on October 7th where they hope to provide initial findings and an opportunity for abatement associations to participate in further case studies.
