Follow on Google News | Women encouraged to “break free” of pelvic floor dysfunction at upcoming Cambridge eventPivotal event for women hosted by area women's health experts.
Presented by The Pelvic Floor Dysfunction Alliance, “Take the Floor Tonight” exposes the secrets of common pelvic floor issues that can occur throughout the lifespan, including leaking urine and pelvic pain, and creates an educational, stigma-free environment where women can feel at ease addressing concerns and asking questions. As a physical therapist specializing in pelvic and women’s health, and having treated hundreds of women with a range of life-altering pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms, McKinney will join Peter L. Rosenblatt, M.D., Lekha Hota, M.D., Katherine J. Hanaway, M.D., Eman A. Elkadry, M.D., and Anthony J. DiSciullo, M.D. in providing expert advice about PFD signs, symptoms and treatment options, as well as exercise tips and demonstrations. “Research shows us time and time, again, that despite PFDs affecting approximately 1-in-3 women, they delay discussing these conditions with their healthcare providers and delay treatment for years. This is vital information for women of all ages and it is incredibly important to create supportive and educational opportunities like the Break Free events,” says McKinney. Whether experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms or not, women of all ages are invited and encouraged to join in the powerful conversation. “Take the Floor Tonight” will be held at 6pm on Wednesday October 1 at Boston Urogynecology Associates located at 725 Concord Ave. #1200, Cambridge, MA 02138.
