Entrepreneurs Chris Anderson and Sylvain Costes

to be celebrated as “Berkeley Visionaries”

Berkeley, CA – September 29, 2014  On September 29th from 5-7:30 at the SkyDeck in the penthouse of 2150 Shattuck Ave., AutoDesk CEO Carl Bass and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory Director Paul Alivasatos will present Visionary Awards to two rising Berkeley entrepreneurs.

The Berkeley Visionary Awards celebrate people who have taken advantage of the unique attributes of this city to launch innovative companies, create jobs, and promote technologies with global impact.  According to Polly Armstrong CEO, Berkeley Chamber of Commerce, the award grew out of collaboration among the Berkeley Chamber, City of Berkeley’s Office of Economic Development, the University of California at Berkeley, the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, and the Downtown Berkeley Association.  Ms. Armstrong says “Berkeley leaders are working together to retain top innovators in our community as they grow their companies. Together we want to honor two people who succeeded while growing in Berkeley. These are YES! Awards for Berkeley Visionaries.”

And the Visionary Award Winners for 2014 Are ….

Dr. Svlain Costes of Exogen Biotechnology.  Exogen enables rapid, affordable DNA testing to help individuals and researchers monitor DNA damage and assess DNA repair capacities for personal use or clinical care.

AND

Chris Anderson of 3DRobotics.  Author, science journalist and Maker guru Chris Anderson co-founded 3DRobotics, whose unmanned aerial vehicles capture breathtaking imagery for uses across multiple industries around the world, including agriculture, photography, construction, search and rescue and ecological study.
