Follow on Google News | Prison Fellowship Has Agreed To Support Liberty Quest's Streaming Faith Initiative in the BOPPrison Fellowship, the world's largest outreach to prisoners, has agreed to support the Streaming Faith Initiative whose mission is to improve access to 21st Century faith-based programming to those incarcerated in the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
According to Prison Fellowship Senior VP Sam Dye, “We’ve spent decades ministering to inmates and their families. We implement proven, research-backed programs that address crime at its root – the human heart. While education, poverty alleviation, and social justice are all important aspects of the Church’s ministry to the incarcerated and their families, we believe that successful outreach to the least and lost must start with the power of the Gospel to transform lives from the inside out. Streaming Faith, we believe, will assist in that transformation” The two groups have been made to work together. Liberty Quest Foundation was started by McMann who also did a bid in federal prison for wire fraud where he too was touched by the Holy Spirit. Like Prison Fellowship, Liberty Quest is a Christian-based organization with a specific mission is to provide scholarships to children who have or have had a parent incarcerated. McMann’ McMann said, “Prior to my incarceration, I had not spent 10 minutes thinking about the criminal justice system here in the United States. Out of sight; out of mind. However, after having seen what it is first hand, I was disappointed with what we had become and how we treated those charged with crime. With a little effort, we could much better. ” With that sentiment, McMann started Liberty Quest, and its initial initiative is Streaming Faith, which has assembled an all-star team of Christian radio and television talent who have made their streaming audio content available for free download for prisoners in the BOP. Access to such content will assist those incarcerated with dealing with the burdens of their incarceration as well as to better prepare them for productive and law-abiding reentry into society at the conclusion of their prison term. Streaming Faith, consistent with Prison Fellowships other programs, delivers hope, motivation, and practical resources to inmates who want to make a change for the better – and invites them to begin a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
