Small Business Day in Norwalk a Success

NORWALK, Conn. - Sept. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Mayor Harry Rilling and Director of Economic Development Elizabeth Stocker joined residents for Small Business Day at Norwalk City Hall on Tuesday, September 23rd. The event, hosted by the city in collaboration with the U.S. Conference of Mayors, provided local residents with program and resource opportunities to help grow their business.

Small Business Day in Norwalk drew about 100 people. Those who attended had the chance to network with experts and representatives from the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, SCORE, The U.S. Small Business Administration, Connecticut Small Business Development Center and Women’s Business Development Center.

“Have a plan, work the plan, teach the plan, don’t make excuses, hold everyone accountable, starting with yourself,” said keynote speaker Lou Mosca, Executive Vice President and COO of American Management Services, who addressed “How Your Business Can Capitalize on an Improving Economy.”

Mayor Harry Rilling also received the 2014 “Small Business Advocate Award” from the U.S. Conference of Mayors, Partner America for his efforts in supporting small businesses in the city.  “It’s really the small businesses that create the movement in the economy and get things going….On behalf of the Conference of Mayors, congratulations,” said Jeffrey Bean.
