SILVERDALE, Wash. - Sept. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Applied Technical Systems (ATS), Inc. has been notified of its status as a successful offeror under the U.S. Navy Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program to develop an information extraction and scoring system.

ATS’ approach includes leveraging its expertise with maintenance and logistics support of U.S. Navy systems and its experience in developing data-rich software solutions to research and design a data integration and analysis system that is capable of fusing textual and machine-readable data sources to provide a quantitative assessment of the effectiveness of naval maintenance and sustainment processes.

“ATS has a long and proud history in working to improve maintenance and sustainment activities for the U.S. Navy," said Ken Smith, ATS Chief Information and Technology Officer. “We also have some exceptionally skilled computer scientists who know how to manage structured and unstructured data integration problems at large scales. I’m excited about this opportunity because it allows us to combine all of ATS’ diverse talents and focus them on solving a real problem. Our goal with this effort is to surface the quantifiable metrics out of those textual descriptions and then measure maintenance and sustainment activities against them.”

Since 1980, ATS has been driving operational excellence through data-to-decision applications for defense, commercial, energy and intelligence communities.  ATS is a performance driven team focused on providing customers with measurable results.
