A Slice of Life - New Ways of Using Digital Storytelling for Lifelong Learning

Sept. 26, 2014 - PRLog -- Brussels, Belgium, September 26, 2014 -- Two European Union funded projects, KVALUES and ENKDIST, are organising an event in Brussels on the 7th of October 2014 to present their findings and focus on the future of the digital storytelling methodology and its application.

The two projects offer a starting point to a debate on how European projects related to digital storytelling lead to practices that enhance growth, evolution and development of people and institutions toward paths never imagined.

Collaboration between partners in Italy, the UK, Germany, Bulgaria, Estonia, and Sweden, in the last two years of KVALUES - Key competences: Validating Adult Learners’ eDucational ExperienceS, have developed and tested the digital storytelling methodology. It is an innovative tool to guide adults and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to self-evaluate and recognize skills and key competences acquired through informal learning context such as work, volunteering, family and community-related activities. A successful piloting phase was implemented in the Partner countries, involving the key target groups and demonstrating efficiency of the methodology in a fast changing labour market.

The ENKDIST Network provides suggestions and support on transversal issues related to the creative use of digital contents and to the employment of basic software tools for creating digital stories. They actively involve people from the educational and learning sector; from pupils to teachers, from students to professors, from trainees to professionals. In order to reach these objectives, the Network connects knowledge, experience and best practices between eight European partners. During a series of events over three years, the DST approach, its tools and related issues were thoroughly analysed, improved, critically compared and updated. The project aims to transform and integrate a national experience into a European procedure.

The event is open to all and will present the findings of the two projects in an interactive fashion, focusing on the digital stories produced during the piloting phase.
