Woody’s BBQ Hosting Pink Army Flag Raising Oct. 1st

PALM COAST, Fla. - Sept. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Woody’s BBQ is joining the Pink Army in breast cancer awareness with a flag raising ceremony led by restaurant owners and staff on Oct. 1st.

“We reached out to John Subers, the Director of the Florida Hospital Foundation, and let him know that we have a flag pole in front of Woody’s and told him that we would like to do a ceremony here to show our support,” said Joe Rizzo, co-owner of Woody’s BBQ. “We will have pink t-shirts that say ‘Best Racks in Town’ to support the cause as well,” he added.

October is breast cancer awareness month and is supported internationally by businesses, sports leagues and many people that have been touched by the disease wearing and using the color pink all month long to support the fight. Breast Cancer is the second most common cancer found in women and the Pink Army is holding flag raising events, and a 5K Oct 12th to raise awareness and funds for research.

The flag raising ceremony will take place at 5:30 pm on October 1, 2014 in front of Woody’s BBQ, facing SR 100, just east of I-95.

Originally opened by brothers’ Matt and Josh Crews in 1998, Woody’s Bar-B-Q was meant for the ultimate barbeque experience. In the spring of 2000, Josh sold his portion of Woody’s restaurant to Joe Rizzo, a high school friend of both brothers. Trained in the fine art of low and slow smoking, Crews and Rizzo have spent most of their adult life creating and serving the world’s best barbeque. Woody’s is now owned by Matt, Joe, and Chris Zwirn. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and their hours of operation are Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm, Friday and Saturday from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm, and Sunday from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.
