Follow on Google News | Gruesome Halloween displays shock public with their beautyStudents of South Valley School, a school for young adults with disabilities, will be showing off their original artistic creations in three large walk-in display cases at Halloween City in Sandy.
Time: 6:30-7:30pm Location: Halloween City 10250 S State St Sandy, UT 84070 (302) 268-7180 Halloween will start early at Southtowne Shopping Center this year, with gruesome silhouettes, original artworks and unknown treasures filling the walk-in display cases of Halloween City. Roger Whiting, a local artist and teacher with Art Access Utah, was strolling near the Halloween City in Sandy and noticed three massive, empty walk-in display cases connected to this pop-up store. After pondering on the joyless nature and potential of these cases, Whiting thought of the fantastic creativity of his Art Access students at South Valley School, a West Jordan school for young adults with disabilities. After some negotiation, Halloween City agreed to help support an impromptu art show on their premises. Throughout the months of September and October, Whiting has been supervising bi-weekly art lessons with the South Valley Students to design and create the three enormous displays. Display one will be filled with large silhouettes of gruesome Halloween figures and characters. Display two will be filled with original framed artworks created in the students' own unique styles. Display three will be a three-dimensional graveyard scene, complete with larger-than- On October 23 Whiting, along with the artists of South Valley School, will reveal and celebrate their completed artworks, as well as become a temporary part of the three-dimensional display.
