DALLAS - Sept. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Dallas, September 23, 2014Dallas Mavericks’ ownerMark Cuban and crowdSPRING (http://www.crowdspring.com/) co-founder Ross Kimbarovsky announced today that Dallas native Geoff Case  is the winner of the 2015-16 jersey design contest.  Case’s design features the predominant Dallas skyline (www.mavs.com/jerseywinner).

As the winner, Case received $1,000.00 on behalf of crowdSPRING and 2015-16 season tickets on behalf of the Mavericks.

“The creativity of Mavs fans is amazing,” said Cuban.  “We want to thank everyone who submitted a design and we look forward to seeing the skyline adorned across Mavs jerseys in 2015-16.”

New merchandise featuring the skyline design will be on sale for the first time today in The Hangar-Victory Park.

On May 13, 2013, Cuban encouraged fans to design an alternate jersey on his website blogmaverick.com.  He received over 1,000 entries, 772 coming from crowdSPRING, a marketplace for custom logo design (http://www.crowdspring.com/logo-design/) and web design (http://www.crowdspring.com/web-design/) (http://www.crowdspring.com/clothing/project/2352780_help-the-dallas-mavs-design-their-next-nba-uniform).

Then the design competition moved to the next stage as Mavs fans across the country got to choose their favorite online at mavs.com.  Case’s skyline design was the runaway favorite in total votes.

“As an entrepreneur, Mark Cuban understands that crowdsourcing levels the playing field,” said crowdSPRING’s co-Founders Ross Kimbarovsky and Mike Samson. “It invites creativity from a broad range of talents and engages fans and designer around the world in a unique and fun way.”

The concept of crowdsourcing dates back to 2006, and it works like this: a business, or in this case, a team, needs something designed, such as a uniform. Rather than consulting with an agency, which can be costly and time consuming, crowdsourcing allows the Mavs to post online the project goal, the price it will pay for the project and a deadline. Then, hundreds of creatives have a chance to create and submit uniform concepts.

Crowdsourcing is useful in a variety of arenas, from political campaigns to transportation logos, clothing designs, company names and more. More than 161,000 writers and designers use crowdSPRING, and have completed greater than 38,000 projects to date. With an average of 136 submissions per project, the buyer is presented with an array of choices priced at a level he or she can afford.
