DALLAS - Sept. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- LP&AHC President and CEO Gay Donnell shared, “We are so grateful for the generosity of our community, particularly Bobbi Snyder, which has given the Conservancy $1.2 million earlier this year to be combined with $523,000 in City of Dallas Bond Funds to construct a ramp linking Lee Park to the Katy Trail. These sizable donations will go a long way in bettering our community and preserving these historic and iconic landmarks, just in time for our upcoming celebration of Arlington Hall’s 75th anniversary in October!”

Friday, October, 24, commemorates Arlington Hall’s official 75th anniversary. Formally dedicated in 1939, Arlington Hall has been a magnet for cultural and social events over the years. It is a two-thirds replica of the Custis-Lee Mansion, Robert E. Lee’s family home before the Civil War, located in Arlington, VA. The grounds’ historical and architectural charms have provided friends, families and metroplex residents with countless memories and a space that recognizes the city’s growth and prosperous future but is also reminiscent of one of the most pivotal periods in our nation’s history.

Funds raised from North Texas Giving Day will enable the Conservancy to continue its mission of thoughtful development and conservation of Lee Park and Arlington Hall for the next 75 years and beyond.

“The Conservancy has dedicated an outstanding amount of time and energy to preserve the legacy of this one-of-a-kind venue and the results are incredible,” Donnell said. “The 75 years of tradition and history that come to life when you visit Arlington Hall provide an experience unlike anything else the city has to offer. The preservation of Arlington Hall and the surrounding park is a preservation of memories,  and it would not be possible without the support of our donors from North Texas Giving Day as well as other donations throughout the year.”

Arlington Hall will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a week of fun, family-friendly and educational events focused on the rich history of the building. The week-long celebration officially kicks off Oct. 21 with a movie night in Lee Park. The celebration will culminate on Sunday, Oct. 26 with an afternoon open house at Arlington Hall complete with docents and other story tellers on hand to tell the history and little-known facts of Arlington Hall and its very beginnings in the city of Dallas. Details of the 75th anniversary events can be found on the Lee Park & Arlington Hall Conservancy website.
