‘Bloodlines – The Quest’ by Jon McDonald – A Vampire Novel with a Twist

NEW YORK - Sept. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- ‘Bloodlines – The Quest’ by Jon McDonald is nothing like you would expect. First of all, it is a part thriller, part horror, part comedy in the well-known spirit of McDonald’s genre-bending novels, which manages to delight the readers and make them laugh out loud even when it terrifies them with bloody scenes. The author plays with the clichés of the vampire literature in a natural, clever way, giving birth to a story that stands on its own and draws the readers in with complex characters, fast-paced action, and an intriguing plot.

Charles Alain Voltaire, better known as Volter, is a pure vampire who feeds on human blood in the most ferocious ways possible. He flees Europe and ends up in Brampton, Ohio, where a colony of mutant vampires has been hiding for over 100 years. His goal is to destroy them, as he believes that vampires who are half humans, sleep during the night, and feed on animal blood alone are a disgrace to this powerful, unstoppable race. Thus, Volter goes on a killing spree hoping that the locals will suspect the mutants and decide to make their own justice by eliminating them. He certainly doesn’t expect the humans to side with the vampire mutants. But they will soon realize that Volter is almost impossible to destroy and they are all risking their lives.

Jon McDonald has done much more than simply using the vampire myth to build his story; he has added his own original ideas. For instance, he introduces a twist in the way a vampire can be killed. In his universe, it seems that a pure vampire can regenerate from the smallest portion of cellular tissue, which means that the creature has to be destroyed completely. This detail turns Volter into an even more terrible villain the main characters have to fight.

Customers have praised ‘Bloodlines – The Quest’ in their Amazon reviews. Here is what an Amazon reviewer said: ‘I quite enjoyed the different take on mixing with the human population that this author took, which is different from many other authors, movies, and television series. McDonald’s creativity and his gift of writing are apparent, and the fact that he only started writing 5 years ago is unbelievable.’
