PERTH, Scotland - Sept. 24, 2014 - PRLog -- Proving that the proof is in the pudding, or pie, Comrie-based caterers Wilde Thyme are celebrating the news this week that an extra-special pie, developed as a delectable light bite for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, is now to be put on sale to the general public.

Developed for The Famous Grouse Experience by Andrew Hamer, chef patron of Wilde Thyme, in honour of the Royal couple’s visit to Glenturret Distillery earlier this year, The Strathearn Pie was deemed to be so special, so scrumptious, that The Famous Grouse Experience, Scotland’s oldest working distillery and popular visitor attraction, has now made it a permanent addition to their café menu.

The pie was carefully crafted using top quality Scotch Beef and award-winning rare single cask Glenturret malt whisky as well as locally-grown root vegetables, but the details that make the recipe unique still remain top secret! During the Royal visit and, after cleaning her plate, Kate declared it a “delicious pie!”

Andrew said:

“This was a real collaborative process between myself, Gary Conacher of Simon Howie Butchers and the team at The Famous Grouse Experience. We wanted to create a taste that was unique, delicious and one that would get a proper royal seal of approval. We are thrilled that the Duke and Duchess enjoyed the locally produced Strathearn Pie, created in their name.”

The Strathearn Pie is another string for Andrew and his talented team to add to their bow. Established in 2003, Wilde Thyme has catered for an array of high profile clients including Ralph Lauren, Ernst & Young, Porsche, Bentley and high profile attendees such as HRH Prince Charles and Sir Arnold Clark. The team’s passion was rewarded when they won the UK ‘Event Caterer of the Year’ award in 2013.

Wilde Thyme are also catering for VIPs and dignitaries at Gleneagles for the Ryder Cup this week. The team will be showcasing their creations in the Event Scotland suite in the Aviemore Pavillion, providing luxury food created using local produce and suppliers.

Andrew added:

“I am very proud of this business and the work we do and passionate about using local suppliers and the very best quality seasonal produce which is at the very heart of the menus we create. The ingredients are the key to great flavours and the partnerships we have built with Scotland’s top food suppliers enable us to produce delicious and memorable dishes.”
