“WE RUN FOR HOPE” 5K Kicks Off Breast Cancer Awareness Month

QUEENS, N.Y. - Sept. 23, 2014 - PRLog -- The WE RUN FOR HOPE 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 9:00 AM at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, NY.  This is the organization’s second annual event, which is slated to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month, as well as benefit SHARE (Self-Help for Women with Breast or Ovarian Cancer).  SHARE is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to create and sustain a supportive network and community of women affected by breast or ovarian cancer.

Executive Director, Tricia Singh, expresses her excitement about the opportunity to build this signature event while raising awareness, “Our 2013 inaugural fun run/walk was such a huge success, that it made perfect sense to build this event year over year.” Singh goes on to explain her personal experience as a caregiver, “My mother has stage four metastatic breast cancer and has endured surgeries, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation.  My hope is that this race will raise funds to help support SHARE, provide empowerment, education and advocacy to bring about better health care, an improved quality of life, and a cure for these diseases.”

The WE RUN FOR HOPE 5K Fun Run/Walk will start and finish near the Unisphere (big globe) located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.  A 1-Mile Kids Fun-Run for children12 years old & under, will take place immediately following the 5K.
