SAN ANTONIO, TX, September 24, 2014 – Labatt Food Service, the tenth largest foodservice distributor in the nation, hosted an exclusive chef demonstration event at the Culinary Institute of America in San Antonio, TX.  Chef Jill Overdorf, a Corporate Executive Chef from Coosmans LA Shipping, a specialty produce company based in California, discussed unique ways in-season produce can be incorporated into a restaurant’s menu as a cost effective way to combat inflated prices of beef and pork.

The event was well received by various restaurant proprietors and businesses in the San Antonio area, including Green Vegetarian, San Antonio Country Club, Los Barrios Mexican Restaurant, One Lucky Duck, and Whole Foods Market.

Chef Jill Overdorf discussed unique ways to change up regular produce items and innovate menus for food savvy consumers.  Chef Overdorf shared a variety of new recipe ideas for jicama, tri-color carrots, cauliflower, kale, asian pears, and grapefruit to name a few.  “Our goal is to sell the best possible product when it’s in-season,” said Chef Overdorf.

“Our objective was to facilitate a unique event for our customers to have access to a culinary expert and gain valuable knowledge they may not otherwise have access to,” said Labatt Online Director Matt Silva.  “Our goal is to educate and empower them with information they can take back directly to their kitchens.”
