ACTE announce Cinterion EHS8 wireless module with 3G, Java™ embedded and GPS capability

BASINGSTOKE, U.K. - Sept. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- ACTE, the U.K specialist of wireless Internet of Things (IoT) telecommunication solutions have announced the release of the Cinterion EHS8 industrial wireless module from Gemalto M2M, providing global 3G connectivity,  Java™ embedded and on board GPS in a tiny form factor.

Providing the capability for multiple designs from one solution, via a common Gemalto M2M module footprint, EHS8 is an ideal module for applications migrating from 2G to 3G requiring cost efficiency along with global connectivity. EHS8 offers 5 band HSPA with fallback to GPRS to support high and low bandwidth applications, enabling speeds of 7.2Mbps downlink and 5.7Mbps uplink. EHS8 supports common industrial interfaces such as USB, serial interfaces, I2C and various GPIO’s to be connected to the Java engine.

EHS8 features the latest Java ME 3.2 client runtime platform optimised for resource constrained wireless M2M and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Allowing multi-threading programming and multi-application execution utilising the wireless modules onboard ARM 11 architecture, a 6MB RAM and 10MB flash file system are available for user configuration and on board applications.

Benefitting from an embedded 32 channel GPS receiver offering tracking sensitivity of -162dBm and a Cold Start TTFF of <46 seconds, EHS8 offers one of the smallest footprints in its class, making it ideal for size constrained applications such as track and trace solutions.

Measuring just 27x25x2.2mm, the LGA mounted EHS8 operates at industrial temperature ranges.  Full control is via AT commands, which includes TCP/IP stack access and other TCP server/client internet services such as UDP, SMTP, POP3, FTP client and HTTP client. As with all Cinterion® wireless M2M modules from Gemalto, EHS8 is R&TTE, GCF, CE, FCC, PTCRB, IC, UL and E-Mark approved. Additionally, EHS8 is AT&T compliant for the U.S market.
