Thane's oldest Durga puja pandal gets ready to celebrate

THANE, India - Sept. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- The Durga Puja fever is gripping Thanekars like never before and thanks to the efforts of Bangiya Parishad THANE headed by Prakash Kumar Guha, Thane is all set to witness the Oldest Durga Puja In Thane.

Bangiya Parishad initiated the prestigious Durga Puja celebration since 52 years at Highland Gardens Dhokali - Balkum Rd, Dhokali in Thane from September 28th- October 3rd and was moved and touched by the overwhelming response he received from the people at large. President Mr. Prakash Kumar Guha, along with Chairman Mr. Sukumar Ghosh with Secretary Mr. Kanai Bandyopadhyay have the responsibility of “Durga Puja Event” bestowed upon their shoulders.

On 52^nd year of Durga Puja, committee will be holding some special programme & decorating the venue differently. The Durga- maa temple will be made up of Shankh & Conch shells, wood & Cloths. The artist will create the temple bring with them Sarir Paar(border of cotton sarees) for tying up the Pandal.

The premises will built in an area of 2,00,000 sq. feet. Pandal is made up on 80 by 120 sq feet area and 80 by 60 sq feet of stage. Many programmes have been organized & they will all begin from September 28^th. Starting from Milan Mela (Local Cuisine Competition), Akash neil’s Abriti (Poetry), Maya Chakraborty’s Rabindra Sangeet, a dance drama on Nirbhaya’s(Delhi rape case), Sanjeet & Rathijeet performances. On shasti, Oct 30^th there will be a special interactive Baul performance by lakhan Das Baul & his group in afternoon. Also on Ashtami/ Navami Famous Playback Singer Shaan will be Performing in this event on October 2^nd & would be a great crowd puller because of his great fan following.

The highlights of previous year’s celebrations were performances by celebrities like Shreya Ghoshal, Alka Yagnik, Sudesh Bhosale, Kunal Ganjawala, Nilakshi Bhattacharya. With power packed entertainment on a much higher scale this year the event is also coming up with A Consumer Expo from various fields. We are compelled to say, “It simply can’t get bigger than this” .We have also invited some reputed personalities from various fields like Corporate, Politics and Social.

Food is an important part of all Puja Pandals in Thane & Mumbai. And just like every year, this year too, there will be many food stalls with authentic Bengali delicacies like fish, cutlets and mutton chops.

More than lakhs of visitors are expected during this Six days event.
