Rebel Craft Media to release premiere issue of The WhipperCrafter digital magazine

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Sept. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Huntsville, Ala. – Rebel Craft Media will release its premiere issue of The WhipperCrafter digital “mini” magazine on October 1, 2014 at www.rebelcraftmedia.com. The Fall 2014 edition of this new bimonthly, web-based publication is themed “Toil & Trouble” and will become available for purchase just in time for peak Halloween crafting and decorating.

Rebel Craft Media is a fresh face on the independent publishing scene. Co-founders Kelly Biscopink (Charleston, S.C.), Shannon Miller (Huntsville, Ala.) and Courtney Kyle (Albertville, Ala.) launched the small press in March of this year in a joint effort to provide excellent craft content and establish superior publishing relationships for today’s creative community.

“Rebel Craft Media is entering the marketplace at an industry tipping point,” remarks Kelly Biscopink, editorial director. “We’re daring to propose the question: What happens if you keep the business model small, put the focus back on quality, and separate art from sales?”

The fresh and innovative results are readily apparent in The WhipperCrafter and other upcoming Rebel Craft products.

The founders’ "keep it small, make it quality" philosophy is a cornerstone of the Rebel Craft Media business model, and promises to remain apparent in upcoming releases of both digital and physical products in the www.rebelcraftmedia.com store. To that end, the October/November 2014 edition of The WhipperCrafter will kick off an exciting end to the calendar year for the new publisher and their customers alike.

The digital magazine is geared towards contemporary crafters of all types, from stitchers, quilters, paper crafters and painters to mixed-media artists, bakers, beaders, hostesses and more. Presented as a “mini-mag” with an average of 10 projects in each edition, the publishers consider the issue length to be the approximate equivalent of 48 printed pages of magazine content. However, its non-traditional format allows the creators to present the fun, creative projects in a unique format that is both convenient and cost-effective. While the magazine itself is web-based and ideally viewable on a computer or tablet browser, each project will also be offered in a simple, printable PDF format so readers can take the instructions back to their workspaces with ease.

The October/November “Toil & Trouble” issue has been carefully styled to spooky perfection with a muted color palette of black and white and features pops of red, orange, green and purple. There is sure to be something that pleases everyone’s creative palate, as the projects span multiple craft genres including quilting, hand-stitching, sewing, simple jewelry, collage and paper crafts. Seasonal party planners will also gain inspiration from the “Halloween Bash” tablescape, including special cocktail recipes and simple decorating ideas. Also included are a unique “Pick Your Poison” craft beer review and an exclusive interview with Jessica Rider (alittlegray.blogspot.com) regarding her film-inspired children’s costume series, Film Petit.

With a suggested price of $5.00 each, customers who purchase a copy of The WhipperCrafter can enjoy a sliding price scale for the first month only, which means they can pay what it is worth to them – no matter if that means $0, $5.00 or more. After the initial publication month comes to an end, the magazine will become available for a firm retail price of $5.00 per unit.

Upon purchase of the magazine, customers will receive a downloadable, printable PDF containing all of the pattern pieces and templates needed for the particular issue at hand, as well as web access to the issue itself. Readers can return to view the issue recurrently via the provided link in this PDF, which will be hosted indefinitely in their account digest of all previous purchases.

The WhipperCrafter is designed to entertain, inspire and indulge the contemporary crafter as creative outlet for its creators, contributors and customers alike. With a style that bridges “pretty” and “edgy,” the title provides readers the perfect blend of beautifully modern, do-it-yourself projects that celebrate originality and innovation, with an emphasis on cool ideas and a heart set on big goals.

Rebel Craft Media hopes to engage their customers by providing the distinct joy that only a creative, inspirational outlet– such as The WhipperCrafter magazine – can provide.

“Our team is elated to be moving our first product launch into the public marketplace,” marketing director Shannon Miller relates. “We share a common love for both crafts and magazines, and the soul-nurturing escape they can provide; so it’s no coincidence that our team hopes to offer just that type of experience in the form of The WhipperCrafter and other forthcoming products.”
