The League of Women Voters of Palm Beach County is inviting the public to a FREE bipartisan discourse: UNDERMINING DEMOCRACY: Why 1-in-10 Voting-Aged Floridians is Not Allowed to Vote. The event is co-sponsored by The Voting Rights Coalition and the Healing Justice Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton.

At its recent national convention, the League of Women Voters of the United States adopted the restoration of former felon rights as a national  program priority. Attention to this matter is becoming a subject in our State of Florida race for governor.

About the Healing Justice Task Force of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Boca Raton:

The Healing Justice Task Force came about as a result of the study of Michelle Alexander's book The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in an Age of Color Blindness.  After realizing how broken the justice system has become, some of those studying the book decided it wasn't enough to just read about it, it was time to turn anger into constructive action by bringing awareness to these issues through a film and conversation series. The Task Force is currently focusing on the issues of voter's rights and juvenile justice as part of a larger movement to bring justice to an ailing "justice" system.
