SHREWSBURY, N.J. - Sept. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Mon Group Properties, Inc. (Mon Group), a market leader in providing green urban living options in New Jersey, is pleased to announce that Jaclyn Heights in West New York, one of its award winning communities, is the only condominium project in the state that is LEED and National Green Building Standard® (NGBS) certified and built to New Jersey ENERGY Efficient Homes (Tier 1) Standards.

Green, or high-performance, buildings are designed and constructed to incorporate environmental considerations and resource efficiency into the building and land development process with the goal to minimize the home's environmental impact. Some of the materials green builders may use include: energy-efficient HVAC systems, windows, appliances and lighting; water-efficient appliances and low-flow fixtures; non-invasive drought tolerant plants; engineered wood and wood alternatives, recycled building materials, sustainably harvested lumber and more durable products; products to improve the air quality such as effective HVAC equipment, formaldehyde-free finishes, low-allergen materials, and products with minimal off-gassing or low volatile organic compounds (VOCs); as well as site design plans that minimize disruption and preserve open space.

Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) is the Green Building Council’s (USGBC) green building certification program which recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. LEED certification is recognized across the globe as the premier mark of achievement in green building. There are four levels of certification. Jaclyn Heights is Gold Certified, the second highest level.

The National Green Building Standard® (NGBS), established by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), is the only green rating system to have earned the approval of the American National Standards Institute. NGBS is used for rating the energy efficiency of new or remodeled single and multifamily buildings, as well as residential subdivisions.

New Jersey ENERGY Efficient Homes (Tier 1) have energy efficient characteristics that save owners and renters about 15 percent more energy than a traditionally built home.

Mon Group provides home owners with training on the proper use of the energy efficient appliances and other amenities in each unit, as well as operating manuals and guides. Renters receive their material on CD to save paper.

Earlier this year Jaclyn Heights at West New York was named the project with the Best Use of Green or LEED Technology in a Public or Private Project, Community of the Year Mid-Rise/High-Rise Under $350,000, as well as Best Mid-Rise/High-Rise Under $350,000 by the New Jersey Builders Association (NJBA), as well as Best Multi-Family Housing Community For Sale Under $500,000 by the Metropolitan Builders and Contractors Association of New Jersey (METRO).
