Orlando Shakespeare Theater Shines at its 26th Season Gala

ORLANDO, Fla. - Sept. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF enjoyed much success with its 26^th Season Gala, held on Sunday, September 7, 2014. The evening featured decadent food and wine tastings, first-rate entertainment, and priceless live and silent auction items. The event raised over $150,000, an increase from the previous year, which will be used to fulfill the Theater's mission to produce bold, professional theater, develop new plays, and provide innovative educational experiences for all ages.

The 2014-2015 Gala was a celebration inspired by Orlando Shakespeare Theater’s current production of Les Miserablés (now playing through October 12). Under a dazzling chandelier and sheer red drapery, guests perused silent auction items displayed in the Dr. Phillips Patrons’ Room. Visitors also mingled in the Theater’s lobby, enjoying atmospheric music from the award-winning UCF Jazz Chambers featuring Jeff Rupert and tastings provided by local caterers including Arthur’s Catering, Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ, Hillstone Restaurant Group, Hyatt Regency Orlando, and Rosen Centre Hotel.

Following a cabaret-style preview of “Les Mis”, partygoers were treated to complimentary dessert and coffee from Barnie’s Coffee Kitchen and Seasons 52. Cocktails by Winter Park Distillery, and additional beverages by City Beverages, Terlato Wines International, and Onli Beverages, were also offered throughout the evening.

“We are grateful and humbled by the support of the Central Florida community exhibited at this year’s Gala,” said Director of Development Marisa Worley. “Because of their generosity, our 26^th Season is off to a great start.”

In addition to the funds raised in ticket sales and auction earnings, guests eagerly participated in a paddle raise that brought in $17,000 more than the previous year. Paddle raise funds will be used in support of the Theater’s educational programming, including youth and teen classes, summer camps, and in-school and on-stage workshops.
