“Omaha Career Networking” to Hold an Open House on Tuesday Sept. 30th

OMAHA, Neb. - Sept. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Omaha, NE, September 19, 2014:  The Omaha Career Networking group dedicated to helping the unemployed and underemployed in the Omaha metro area will hold an Open House on September 30, 2014, at 7:00 p.m. in room F253 at Christ Community Church, 404 South 108^th Avenue, Omaha.

The Open House falls on the same night as the group’s monthly workshop where members are helped by professionals (career counselors, resume experts, HR professionals, marketing professionals) with specific answers to help them overcome challenges they are seeing in their job hunt.

The Open House is also tied in with the rebranding of the group across its digital landscape. “Since the start of the group 5 years ago, we have been known as the Omaha Career Networking Support Group on LinkedIn, and Godly Job Search on our Website and Facebook,” according to Jeff Quandt co-facilitator and Digital Marketing Manager for the group. “It was time to re-brand ourselves and unify the message we are presenting to the marketplace. Now we will be known as ‘Omaha Career Networking’. The new website is www.OmahaCareerNetworking.org.”

Mike Familetti, founder and facilitator of the group, has seen the group grow in helping people use new tactics and strategies to find work in today’s challenging job market. “Over the past five years, we have seen more than 160 people land full-time employment using the strategies and tactics we offer in our group. Despite what the unemployment number appears, they are thousands of individuals who have been displaced during the recession and flat recovery that have given up or severely underemployed. If you are unemployed the unemployment number is 100% as far as you are concerned.”

“Networking is the key to finding rewarding work within any career field today. Networking has an 80% success rate, applying online yields only a 5% chance of landing a job.” Familetti added. The group meetings are designed to increase a job hunter’s network, refine job hunting tactics, and to develop a personal brand as a solution provider for a business. It does this through the weekly meetings at Christ Community Church in the Old Mill area, with discussions, monthly workshops, and professional guest speakers.  “There are two or three guest presenters each month. They are staffing firm professionals, employment agency executives, company Human Resource managers, motivational speakers, career counselors, lawyers, financial planners, and our volunteers; Jeff Quandt and Scott Vowinkle.” Familetti remarked.
