Local Animal Hospital Launches Social Media Contest to Support Animal Welfare

ATLANTA - Sept. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Lending a helping hand is an invaluable way to show one’s appreciation and carefor another being. This being the case, Woodland Animal Hospital, a Locust Grove-based animal clinic, today announced the launch of a Facebook contest that will benefit three local animal shelters or rescues and invites the community to join its efforts in helping these local groups.

The contest, Tails of Love, is a custom-designed voting application that runs exclusively on Facebook and is optimized for both desktop and mobile devices. After authorizing the contest, Facebook users can vote for any local shelter or rescue on the Tails of Love list until midnight on Monday, October 20 at www.WoodlandTailsOfLove.com. Tails of Love features 21 deserving local animal shelters and rescues. At the end of the voting period, three facilities will receive a total of $6,000 in service credit to Woodland Animal Hospital: $3,000 in credit for the facility with the highest number of votes; $2,000 for the runner up; and $1,000 for the second runner up.

The general public’s perception of animal shelters and rescues tends to be overly optimistic. People are disposed to view shelters as adequately equipped safe havens where animals go until they can be adopted. However, the truth of the matter is that shelters and rescues, more often than not, serve as places where underprivileged animals go to be out of sight and out of mind. Woodland Animal Hospital hopes its Tails of Love contest will establish long-lasting relationships with the shelter and rescue facilities and enable them to provide the quality care Georgia’s needy animals deserve.
