Institute of Classical Architecture and Art RMC Announces 2014 Newman Award Winners

DENVER - Sept. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art Rocky Mountain Chapter (http://www.classicist-rmc.org/) (ICAA RMC) formally announced the winners of the 2014 Newman Awards at an awards ceremony held last evening at the Brown Palace. These awards acknowledge, support and advance traditional concepts in design within the Rocky Mountain region.

More than 40 entries were submitted for consideration and judged by well-known architects and art experts including Michael Imber, FAIA; Suzanne Tucker, ASID; and Mark Gelernter, PhD.  Winners were selected within six categories including architecture, interiors, landscape design, history and journalism, student awards, and craftsmanship.

The 2014 winners are:

“We were blown away by the quantity and quality of entries this year, especially from our student category,” said Don Ruggles, AIA, NCARB, ICAA, founder and president of both Ruggles Mabe Terrell Architecture and the ICAA RMC. “The entries this year tell us that the future of architecture and art in the Rocky Mountain region is bright.”

The Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) teaches the fundamentals of architecture through the exploration and study of the classical tradition. It exists to perpetuate the cultural memory of the past as a resource for architectural issues in the present. The Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC) of ICAA brings classical architecture and arts to the Denver community through public and member-only events including guest lectures, workshops and home tours.
