Biopoint Releases Significant Updates to its Suite of Patient Safety Solutions for the VA

Significant functional additions to Biopoint PI and Biopoint Day-of-Care have arrived.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Sept. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- Bio-Optronics, the makers of the leading suite of patient safety solutions, Biopoint, is excited to announce significant enhancements made to two products within its family of patient safety software solutions. Used by over 120 Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals and community-based outpatient clinics across the US, the Biopoint family of products has been fitted with several significant upgrades that provide even more value for VA hospitals and facilities.

The numerous new features and enactments included in the Biopoint Day-of-Care application give users greater levels of visibility into the location and availability of patients, staff and resources and allows for faster, more accurate decision making that prevents costly and potentially life-threatening delays. With this release, users will have access to more than a dozen new reports including procedure wait times, procedure delays, turn-over time between procedures and more. Additionally, the newly added automated family text messaging functionality lets family and friends know where their loved ones are located and what stage of the procedure is currently underway. This improves both communication and patient satisfaction within organizations using Day-of-Care.

In addition to the enhancements made to Biopoint Day-of-Care, the widely used Biopoint Patient ID (PI) saw enhancements made to its optional add-on modules for Emergency Departments (ED) and Surgery Departments (SD). Users of the ED and SD modules will see faster printing times, easier configuration and deployment and the ability to print additional information directly on the patient wristband. Printing additional information directly on the patient’s wristband improves accuracy and patient safety.

“The Biopoint family of products has continued to raise the bar on patient safety and organizational efficiency within the VA,” says Maria Durkin, Chief Business Officer at Bio-Optronics. “With the latest release of Biopoint Day-of-Care and the enhancements made to the Emergency and Surgery Department Modules, the VA will be able to further enhance its patient safety initiatives and reduce patient wait times.”
