Issue 7 of Picking Perfection Newsletter Will Address Pick Cart Effectiveness

Sept. 18, 2014 - PRLog -- The seventh issue of “Picking Perfection” (a weekly e-newsletter) to be released September 22, 2014 reports the results of pick cart’s effectiveness in Distributed Centers (DCs). After three months of testing ten carts, the overall results were impressive. Picking productivity increased 36%. The error-free rate was reduced from 97.5% to 99.5%. Training time was reduced to less than one day.

The upcoming newsletter will discuss Pick-to-light (PTL) as an order picking technology has been adopted by many warehouse fulfillment systems.  PTL is an order fulfillment system that is light directed, which helps order pickers increase pick speeds and accuracy. Eliminating paper picking, pickers' hands are free to pick an order.

Next week’s newsletter will also address the increased implementation of fulfillment solutions in world-class manufacturing and DCs to ensure order accuracy, guarantee Lot Control, and eliminate paper-based picking systems. As some companies must be FDA compliant, many firms are turning to picking and order verification systems communicating with a host ERP (enterprise resource planning) system.
