CLEARWATER, Fla. - Sept. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- Florida has designated September 14 through September 20 “Child Passenger Safety Week.” Jim Dodson Law, a Florida injury law firm, supports the initiative dedicated to reducing the number of fatal car accidents involving children through the education of the public on the proper use of car seats, booster seats and seat belts.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), car crashes are the leading cause of death for children, ages one to thirteen. Tragically, in 2012, over 1,000 children were injured or lost their lives in car accidents. NHTSA reported 37% of fatalities could have been prevented if the child had been in a car or booster seat or wearing a properly fitted seat belt. The same year, the use of child restraints and seat belts saved the lives of 764 children in Florida accidents.

Parents and caregivers can help prevent senseless tragedies by ensuring kids, ages three and younger, are always restrained by a safety belt in a properly installed car or booster seat, in the back seat of the vehicle. And, that children, ages four and over, are buckled in the back seat with a properly fitted seat belt.

“As a Florida Car Accident Lawyer, I understand how vitally important it is to have a child’s car safety seat properly installed and seat belts always fastened. Restraints absolutely save lives in a crash. Don’t take chances. See that your child is safe and secure in a seat or restraint that is correctly installed in your vehicle. Go to one of the state’s many free safety seat inspection stations this week. For a location near you, check out http://www.safercar.gov/parents/Car-Seat-Safety.htm,” said attorney Jim Dodson.

For over two decades, Jim Dodson has represented accident victims and helped families whose lives have been tragically affected by an accident or injury. Jim strongly supports the use of all safety measures for children. Jimdodsonlaw.com has become a respected resource of free consumer educational materials.
