Tom Presbrey Announces Candidacy for Lee Memorial Health System Board, District 2

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Sept. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Dr. Tom Presbrey has announced his candidacy for Lee Memorial Health System Board of Directors, District 2.   Dr. Presbrey has played an active and ongoing role in leadership in the Lee Memorial Health System (LMHS) including Chairman, LMHS Physician Leadership Council, President, Cape Coral Hospital Medical Staff, Trauma Quality Review Committee, Cape Coral Executive Committee and numerous initiatives involving planning, safety and leadership.

“The major challenge facing Lee Memorial Health System is how to maintain financial viability while providing high quality and safe healthcare to all the patients of Lee County,” said Presbrey.  “I am uniquely qualified for this position having worked on the ground in LMHS hospitals for more than 25 years and having been involved in many initiatives to promote quality and safety for patients.“

Dr. Presbrey has been affiliated with Florida Radiology Consultants, an 18 physician, hospital-based practice, for more than 25 years and has been president for 6 years.   He has been recognized as the LMHS Outstanding Medical Staff Leader and the Lee County Medical Society’s Leadership and Professionalism award recipient.

A graduate of Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL, Dr. Presbrey completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. He completed his fellowship in 1989 in Neuroradiology at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well.  Board-certified by the American Board of Radiology, Dr. Presbrey holds memberships in the American College of Radiology, the Radiological Society of North America, the Florida Radiological Society, the Florida Medical Association, and the Lee County Medical Society.

The Lee Memorial Health System Board consists of ten publicly elected officials. Two officials are elected from each of our five districts. Members are elected on four year staggered terms by the citizens of Lee County.  The duties of the Board include setting goals and objectives for the System, hiring a System President for implementing these goals, and monitoring the work of the administration to ensure to goals and objectives are being achieved.  The Board today oversees five acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, a children's hospital, a skilled nursing facility, a multi-specialty Physician group and various subsidiaries and sub-agencies.
