Michigan Business & Professional Association Announces Elite Winners

Sept. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Many Michigan companies have found that “being green” is good for business.  The best sustainable companies were honored today and two Elite Winners were announced at this year’s 101 Best and Brightest Sustainable Companies (http://www.101bestandbrightest.com/sustainable)® awards celebration, held at Davenport University. The event presented by the Michigan Business and Professional Association (http://www.michbusiness.org/) recognizes those companies that are focused on being more sustainable and improving their local and global environment.

Now in its third year, the 101 Best and Brightest Sustainable Champions awards program is the premier program that celebrates organizations that are making their workplaces, their employees and the community a healthier place to live and work.

Nominated companies were put through a thorough examination based upon six criteria to benchmark and improve their sustainable program effectiveness: Education, Communication, Strategic Planning & Operational Implementation, Innovation & Problem Solving, Building & Grounds, Community Leadership, Workforce and Financial Performance.

Each company’s entry is evaluated based on a point system; those receiving the highest points in relation to the company’s sustainable initiatives category are selected as the winners. This year’s elite winners excelled in all criteria required.

“This year’s Elite winners are creative and thoughtful companies that are working to make the world a better place. They are demonstrating everyday how sustainable practices can make a huge and positive difference in Michigan. This event proves that more and more companies are engaged and willing to take sustainability initiatives to the next level,” said Jennifer Kluge, MBPA president.
