ATLANTA - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Computer science and programming can be downright intimidating, but not for kids in metro Atlanta, GA. The WebbyKids Computer Club is making it easy and fun for kids in grades 2nd through 5th to learn the building blocks of computer literacy.

Technology skills such as keyboarding, online safety and programming prepare kids to be competitive in the future job market.  Computer job openings are projected to increase by more than 150,000 each year. Specifically, web and software developer job growth is expected to increase 22% by 2022 according to U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. “The WebbyKids Computer Club gives kids an early start with computers, computer science, and coding and prepares them for their future career choice”, says Founder Natasha Dobson.

WebbyKids provides parents and educators with a simple and effective resource. In the past, they’ve seen success with private computer tutoring and with organizations such as Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta and the LEAD homeschool group. Parents who enroll their kids into the program agree that computer skills are just as important as reading, writing, and math. “I enrolled my 10-year-old son in WebbyKids because web and computer skills are worth having”, says a LEAD homeschool parent.

The WebbyKids Computer Club is taught as a monthly series and meets once a week on Saturdays at the WebbyKids learning lab, 975 Cobb Place Blvd NW. A membership begins with an orientation class for parent and child. Each month, a new computer project is taught by a WebbyCoach and includes hands-on lessons, the use of the WebbyKids PlaySpace, and help from computer tutors.
