World-renowned Autism Experts To Speak In Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- World-renowned autism specialist and Director of Global Education at the Autism Treatment Center of America Raun K. Kaufman, who himself recovered from severe autism, will speak in Portland on October 4th at the Oregon Convention Center.

As a boy, Kaufman was diagnosed by doctors as severely autistic, with no language and an I.Q. below 30, destined to spend his life institutionalized. Flash forward to today, and he’s a thriving Ivy-league graduate who lives a normal life with no trace of the disorder. And the method his parents developed to help him – The Son-Rise Program – went on to help thousands worldwide.

Autism, a complex developmental disability, typically appears during the first three years of life and is the result of a neurological disorder that affects the normal functioning of the brain, impacting development in the areas of social interaction and communication skills.  Autism rates have skyrocketed in recent years, with CDC finding that the current rates are 1 in 68 children, 1 in 42 boys.

The Portland stop is part of a nationwide book tour to promote AUTISM BREAKTHROUGH. The critically-acclaimed book is a step-by-step guide with clear, practical strategies that readers can implement immediately.

The free lecture will be held at the Oregon Convention Center. It will offer specific tools for parents to help their children on the autism spectrum. Often, at the time of diagnosis, parents receive only limited options.  This lecture is designed to give them a plethora of new options.
