Pineda Covalin Unveils Marina Abramovic Scarf In Collaboration With Marina Abramovic Institute

NEW YORK - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- Luxury Mexican lifestyle brand, Pineda Covalin, is proud to announce the September 2014 release of the limited edition Marina Abramovic scarf designed in collaboration with Marina Abramovic Institute (MAI).

A brand committed to the promotion of the art and culture in all expressions, Pineda Covalin is proud to both collaborate with and support MAI with the release of the limited edition Marina Abramovic scarf. Serving as a platform for immaterial art and long durational works, including those of performance art, dance, theater, film, music, opera, science, nature, technology, and undiscovered forms that may develop in the future, MAI is an incubator for collaboration among emerging and established individuals working in these fields.

The limited edition Marina Abramovic scarves will be available for purchase in Pineda Covalin boutiques worldwide starting mid- September 2014. The scarves will retail for $200.00 (USD) with a percentage of the proceeds being donated directly to MAI, which currently acts as an immaterial institute, hosting live events at partner venues, presenting collaborative projects, and educating the public about long durational works through its online platform, IMMATERIAL.

ABOUT MARINA ABRAMOVIC

Marina Abramovic is a New York-based Serbian performance artist who began her career in the early 1970s. Active for over four decades, her work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. Abramovic was awarded the Golden Lion for Best Artist at the 1997 Venice Biennale. In 2008, she was decorated with the Austrian Commander Cross for her contribution to art history. In 2010, Abramovic had her first major U.S. retrospective and simultaneously performed for 736 hours and 30 minutes in “The Artist is Present” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. During this performance, Abramovic engaged in mutual gaze with more than one thousand strangers over the course of three months. Over 750,000 visitors came to view “The Artist Is Present” and Abramovic was inspired by the general public’s desire to engage with long durational and immaterial works. This is when her vision of MAI was born.
