Park Place Outreach - Youth Emergency Shelter Receives $3,000 Grant from Macy's

Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- (SAVANNAH, GA) Park Place Outreach – Youth Emergency Shelter has been awarded $3,000 in grant funding from Macy’s to be utilized for its emergency youth shelter program. The facility, located at 514 East Henry Street, offers teenagers, ages 11 to 17, a safe place to go 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We are grateful to receive this incredible gift from Macy’s,” said executive director Linda K. Hilts. “The funds will enable the shelter to provide more than 364 nights of care for an individual needing food, clothing and other services such as counseling. Macy’s generosity helps ensure that we can continue taking care of the needs of runaway, homeless and in-crisis youth in our community.”

Through gifts from Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and Macy’s, Inc. (including the Macy’s Foundation), more than $26 million was contributed to nearly 6,000 nonprofit organizations in 2013. A substantial number of Macy’s corporate grants are directed specifically to local communities with particular focus on women’s health and domestic violence issues. In this area, Macy’s provides a wide range of assistance to emergency shelters; sponsors programs to raise awareness about domestic and dating violence; and funds self-esteem and leadership programs for young girls and teens.

Park Place Outreach Youth Emergency Shelter, located at 514 E. Henry St., provides support for troubled children and teens in Savannah and the surrounding area. Opened in 1984, the shelter, open 24 hours a day, offers youth, between the ages of 11 and 17, a safe and loving environment.
