Follow on Google News | New Film Series Highlights Unique People & Places in the Seattle MetroInaugural Episode About a Woman Who Makes Furniture From Cardboard
By: SoundandSEA TV "I wanted to go beyond the traditional documentary film structure," says series creator and Dare Dreamer Media creative director, Ron Dawson. "I want to tell stories about real people and places, but do it in a way that emotionally connects with the viewer, regardless of whether or not they live in Seattle." Each film will be accompanied by production journal entries, behind the scenes photos and videos, and stories about their origin. The first episode, "Unusual Places", premieres today and is about Aline Bloch, a Parisian woman living in Issaquah, WA who makes furniture out of cardboard. "My wife and I met Aline and her husband when we went to purchase an Ikea bed they posted on Craigslist. When she told us the story behind how she came to make furniture out of cardboard, I knew I wanted to make her the subject of the first film." In keeping with the unique premise of the series, "Unusual Places" combines a French voice-over of an original poem written by Ron and recited by Aline. The poem is about finding beauty and strength in places few dare to look. The film cuts between scenes of Aline building a cardboard chair and nurturing her daughter's self-esteem. The visual metaphor is poignant and Aline's reading of the poem delivers passion and emotion. Pre-production has already begun on episode 2 which will feature members from the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra jamming with local rock guitarist Ayron Jones and Seattle rappers RA Scion and Turtle T. Ron comments on episode 2. "Our goal with this next episode is to help expose jazz to a younger audience, illustrate the influence it has had on contemporary music, and shine the spotlight on some amazing musical talent in Seattle." The entire film series will be a testament to Seattle's creative arts community as Dare Dreamer Media will collaborate with other filmmakers for each episode. Ron continues, "I want this project to be an opportunity for other Seattle-based filmmakers and artists to connect with one another and grow their craft."
