SPRING, Texas - Sept. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Early this morning, two Houston area rescues formed a caravan westbound on I-10 to rescue 23 dogs seized in an animal cruelty case in San Antonio.

PugHearts and Boston Terrier Rescue of Greater Houston (BTRGH) volunteers drove to Weimar to meet San Antonio volunteers halfway. Four vehicles were loaded with volunteers, crates and other items to facilitate the transport of their precious cargo to Houston.

22 Boston terriers and one pug are on their way to new lives in Houston this morning.

BTRGH was contacted to pick up an undetermined number, but potentally as many as 40, dogs on Friday. Lacking enough last minute resources, they contacted PugHearts’ Cindy Rothermel, who rallied her pug troops to help. Several volunteers donated their time, vehicles and crates.

The rescue caravan will be arriving at BTRGH shortly, where a veterinarian waits on standby, as well as several volunteers ready to treat and bathe the 23 dogs. Several fosters for PugHearts jumped in to offer emergency foster homes to BTRGH.

BTRGH is in dire need of both donations and foster homes. If you would like to help go to http://houstonbostonrescue.org to donate or fill out an application.
