Mycobacterium avium Complex (MAC) Discussed in New Online Video

The IAQ Video Network releases another educational production about important environmental, health & safety (EHS) issues.

PHOENIX - Sept. 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Today, the IAQ Video Network and Cochrane & Associates announced the release of their latest educational video.  Their newest production discusses Mycobacterium avium complex, also known as MAC.

MAC consists of two species of bacteria; they include Mycobacterium avium and Mycobacterium intracellulare.  They can cause disease and are found in various environmental settings across the globe.

“Several different syndromes are caused by Mycobacterium avium complex,” said Paul Cochrane, President of Cochrane and Associates, the company behind the IAQ Video Network. “For those who are immuno-compromised, it can often take the form of a pulmonary pathogen. Less commonly, pulmonary disease in nonimmuno-compromised persons can occur and children may develop cervical lymphadenitis.  Although the mode of transmission is unclear, MAC is most likely environmentally acquired.  We hope this new video helps to shed some light on this topic.”

This educational video was sponsored by a number of organizations and leading industry professionals that help to protect the public’s health. Sponsors include: EMSL Analytical, LA Testing, Clark Seif Clark, Zimmetry Environmental, ProcessMAP and Healthy Indoors magazine to name a few.
