CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Sept. 15, 2014 - PRLog -- BabyGearLab.com today announced the results of their awards for best breast pumps of 2014.  Over a four month period of product research and hands-on testing, awards were handed out to three of the top performers.  Ten finalist products were examined head-to-head and ranked accordingly based on ease of use, hygiene, acoustics, weight and size, comfort, efficiency and portability.  Read more on the final verdict over at BabyGearLab.com.

The winners are listed below:

The Spectra Baby USA S1 Hospital Grade took home the coveted Editors’ Choice award.  “This whisper-quiet pump scored well in comfort, efficiency and hygiene, all qualities we found to be important in this category,” says Dr. Juliet Spurrier.  “It was one of the priciest pumps we tested, but well worth the investment in our opinion.”

The winner of the Best Value award was the Medela Pump In Style Advanced.  “With the pump motor built right in to the bag, this is one you can just grab and go for almost any situation,” notes Dr. Spurrier.  “Again, a little high on the price end, but you get everything you need for collecting and storing milk on the go.”

Top Pick went to the Medela Harmony Manual.  “We found this to be a great unit for a mom who pumps occasionally or needs an easy solution for when she travels,” says Spurrier.  “With its light weight and compact, easy-to-use design, it can be tossed into almost any bag to take along on a road trip or flight.”

Along with the reviews, BabyGearLab authors also contributed two additional articles related to the topic.  The first article, Best Practices for Handling Breast Milk, written by pediatrician and BabyGearLab mom-in-chief, Dr. Juliet Spurrier, emphasizes the importance of treating the delicate nature of expressed breast milk with care in order to ensure baby is getting the most out of its nutritional potential.  The second, How to Choose the Best Breast Pump, is designed as a supplement to the actual purchasing decision, and will help walk parents through the process of figuring out their specific needs.

BabyGearLab’s exhaustive review process is designed to give readers unique insight into the products being tested.  This review was authored by a mother of one who is also a practicing registered nurse.  This allowed the pumps to be used in a variety of situations over a period of several months.  As a healthcare professional, she made certain that the importance of pump hygiene and the ability to handle the expressed milk safely were emphasized right alongside overall performance.
