GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - Sept. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Gloversville has a newfound economic development diamond in Parkhurst Field. The Parkhurst Field Foundation was formed to help promote and preserve Parkhurst Field in Gloversville, NY, one of the oldest baseball grounds used by any Little League® in America.

As the new non-profit, Parkhurst Field Foundation, launches with the filming of the TV documentary in conjunction with IFP Films locally and with In Focus Brands creating the turnkey business solutions and brand for the legacy of the mission, Gloversville’s business community and civic leaders have lined up to support this accelerator project for the community.

Mayor King of Gloversville at the recent event for the fields said: "The recent developments at Parkhurst Field are encouraging for our city.  The discovery of its history, the publicity it has received already and the plans to create a documentary and a platform to share the story nationwide will benefit the City of Gloversville.  We are certain to see a positive economic impact throughout the process, not only in the actual production of the documentary, but also in the future endeavors of the new foundation created to promote its mission."

At the recent Annual Parkhurst Vintage Game, Senator Farley, Assemblyman Butler and Mayor King were joined by prominent civic and business leaders to celebrate the start of this mission, the economic development opportunity and to kick off the production of the documentary. Robert Manasier of In Focus Brands commented: “This is a great, feel-good story that can only bring positive awareness to the area, its strong community ties and to ignite conversations about the future of the local economy for businesses searching for an Upstate NY home.”

Dave Karpinski, Executive Director of Parkhurst Field Foundation, says: “We intend to use this documentary and the branded business systems as a platform to celebrate our rich history, embrace our long history of integrated and innovative businesses and to sustain this momentum for our community and for other communities struggling with the same issues. We have a great team assembled with IFP Films and In Focus Brands and have wonderful support from this community which will serve as a success model for other communities looking to preserve their history and athletic parks."

Dave Karpinski adds: "Until recently, the history of Parkhurst and Gloversville had been lost to history.  Our Little League players today roam the same grounds which MLB teams, Hall of Famers, Negro League and Industrial League greats have played on such as Cy Young and Honus Wagner.  Baseball is a timeless sport, for over 100 years, families have bonded over the game of baseball on these historic grounds.  I feel the story of Parkhurst Field will resonate with families and communities across America and with the help of IFP Films and In Focus Brands, we will bring the attention to help us preserve and revitalize this park for generations to come."

The 250 page presentation (which will be turned into a book with all proceeds to Parkhurst Field) documents the unbelievable history of Parkhurst Field dating back to 1906 and was presented to the Baseball Hall of Fame. This research has been accepted and preserved in their library.  In addition to the start of the documentary, ESPN has been made aware of the initiative and Little League International has promised to help tell this exciting Gloversville  story nationally this coming year.

Gloversville will be a business and film foci for production crews, business leaders, politicians and economic developers to guarantee that a maximum effort will be given to create a successful model.  The community is asked to get involved by sharing their sports stories and memories at: www.parkhurstfield.org.
