PRLog -- It's time to celebrate Maryland and American history--in Baltimore, Maryland. On September 13, 2014, Fort McHenry National Monument, staff, volunteers, reenactors, military and dignitaries will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore and our National Anthem--the Star-Spangled Banner. Bring the family and enjoy a day of reenacting, music, and celebration hosted by the National Park Service. Fort McHenry commemorates Defenders' Day on Saturday, September 13, the Maryland holiday, marking the anniversary of the Battle of Baltimore, September 12-14, 1814. War of 1812 reenactors will take the field, a replica of the original Star-Spangled Banner will be raised, Governor Martin O'Malley will review the events, and at 1:00 PM tenor Douglas Jimerson and the Yankee Dandies will sing and perform a program of War of 1812 period music. Some of the favorite songs that Jimerson will sing are: "Drunken Sailor," "Yankee Doodle," "The Minstrel Boy," and "Chester." Tall ships will sail in the harbor. Cannons will be fired by the National Guard. Fireworks will cap off the evening. Many families come for the entire day. Jimerson says, "It's my favorite patriotic event of the year." If you live in Maryland, you should not miss this celebration!
