By: Boston Center for Adult Education Dance music veteran Paul Dailey has been in the business for 20 years playing in various cities from New York City to Minneapolis, also spending some time as a radio mix show DJ. In this four session class he will teach students the basics of being a DJ using his years of experience in different areas of the industry. The first three sessions will involve lessons on how to cue and scratch and what exactly a “mix” is. On the fourth session the class will move off-site to an area club to discuss music programming, how to read a crowd, getting your first DJ gig, and how to deal with promoters. Students will also get the chance to familiarize themselves with the equipment and see a demo by the instructor! Spending time in the crowd of a busy club is always fun, but learning what it’s like on the other side is a whole new experience.
