Bass Computers, Inc. Announces Certification to R2:2013 Standard

HOUSTON - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Bass Computers, Inc. is excited to announce its certification to the R2:2013 standard. R2:2013 is the premier global environmental, worker health and safety standard for the electronics recycling industry.

“Entrusting your assets to a R2 certified recycler provides assurance that your electronics will be reused, recycled, and disposed of in a responsible manner,” says Paul Campbell, Director of IT Asset Management. “R2 certification provides our customers with the knowledge and confidence that they are working with an electronics recycler that adheres to the highest standards of the environmental stewardship combined with the rigorous adherence to data security and data destruction procedures.”

The updates to the standard were recommended by a committee of representatives from government agencies, customer/users, recyclers, public interest groups, and other interested stakeholders.  After receiving public feedback, the standard became effective in July 2013.

In anticipation of the new standard, Bass Computers, Inc. instituted policies to ensure compliance with the highest standards in the industry prior to its initial certification audit last year.   Having already achieved ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications, implemented a stringent data destruction policy, and instituted a no landfill policy, the transition to the new R2 certification proved no challenge to the company.

“It is important that our customers know that their equipment will not end up in a landfill or on the nightly news,” says Paul.   “Data security is of the utmost importance for individuals and organizations these days.  We want to sustain our customers’ confidence in the fact that we will continue to implement procedures in accordance with the highest standards in the industry.”
