Follow on Google News | Delray's CAFFE LUNA ROSA to Celebrate Nat'l Tomato Month in Oct with Special AppetizerBy: PR-BS, Inc With Special Tomato-Based Appetizer & 2-for-1 Bloody Marys (Delray Beach, FL – September 8, 2014) Caffé Luna Rosa, Delray Beach’s popular beachside restaurant, will celebrate National Tomato Month in October with a featured outstanding tomato-based appetizer as well as with a weekday two-for-one Bloody Mary special. "Our customers expect us to use only the world’s best tomatoes in our dishes and that’s why we only use San Marzano D.O.P. Certified tomatoes in our sauces,” says Fran Marincola, founder and partner of Caffé Luna Rosa. “These tomatoes, which we import directly from Italy, are considered the sweetest and best-tasting tomatoes in the world.” Throughout the month of October, Caffé Luna Rosa will be featuring a Scamponi Arrabiata appetizer, made with a wild-caught quarter-pound shrimp and presented in a spicy tomato and red pepper sauce. It is served with polenta and can be paired with a veal chop in a truffle mushroom sauce or scallops provincial. "What makes this dish special is the size of the shrimp – it’s huge – and, of course, the San Marzano D.O.P. tomatoes,” says Ernesto DeBlasi, the restaurant executive chef. “These tomatoes have a better flavor that really helps bring out the flavor of the shrimp.” DeBlasi says the tomatoes Caffé Luna Rosa uses are always authentic San Marzano D.O.P., come from a region in Italy with a climate and a volcanic soil that are conducive to growing the best quality tomatoes. "Four times a year we taste test between six and eight different tomatoes and every time San Marzano D.O.P tomatoes win hands down,” he said. San Marzano D.O.P (protected designation of origin) is used in all of Caffé Luna Rosa sauces, according to Marincola. "By creating sauces using these tomatoes, we’re assuring our customers that Caffé Luna Rosa uses only the very best ingredients,” In addition to the special Scamponi Arrabiata appetizer, which is $21, Caffé Luna Rosa will be offering two-for-one Bloody Mary specials daily until noon, Monday through Friday. "Our Bloody Marys are very popular and perfect for helping us celebrate National Tomato Month,” Marincola said. About Caffé Luna Rosa: Located at 34 S.
