Depression and suicide are at an all time high across the board, especially for teenagers and children. Gigante believes that life is too short for anyone, let alone a child, to go through it unhappy and bullied. Gigante’s film Broken Silence encourage those who have been bullied to break free and say something. With the emergence of the internet and popularity of social media, cyberbullying has provided a new gateway for bullies. The plot is told through the eyes of Fran, a quiet teenager who is consistently the victim of bullying. Lacking friends or support, Fran is often the target victim of the “popular” crowd. Each day at school is a battle for survival, a feeling that so many other teens feel and experience. Broken Silence is scheduled to start filming November 2014.
