SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year and according to the National Education Association, approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying. In hopes of raising awareness and funding to help empower students, the Southern California Schools Joint Powers Authorities, (SCSJPA) is hosting their 8th Annual Golf Tournament on Monday, October 13, 2014. This fundraiser will benefit the Safe Schools Ambassador program, which is a bullying prevention program offered through not-for-profit “Community Matters”.

The Safe Schools Ambassador Program is the nation's most effective bystander education program that harnesses the power of students to prevent and stop bullying and violence. Since 2000, this field-tested, evidence-based model has equipped nearly 60,000 students across the nation with the communication, conflict negotiation and intervention skills to prevent and stop emotional and physical bullying during and outside of school.
