Three Albuquerque Startups Hosting Civic Entrepreneur Bootcamp in Albuquerque, New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- On Saturday, September 13, 2014, three Albuquerque startups will host the city’s first Civic Entrepreneur Bootcamp. The one-day, free event will offer hands-on experience for producing a civic mobile application as well as insights into the steps necessary to launch and grow a business.

We believe that this bootcamp represents an unprecedented opportunity to bring talent in this community together and provide them tools to unleash their own creativity.”

Hosted by APPCityLife, Leverage Legal Group, and Seed Worthy, the event also marks the first-ever opportunity for the public to participate in a civic hackathon using the patented CityLife platform, which allows non-developers to create robust mobile apps in hours. After spending the last year building the platform - which includes an open data server to normalize messy open data feeds for mobile, a coupon server which enables vendors and businesses to deliver geolocated coupons to the platform, and a real time analytics engine - APPCityLife plans to use Saturday’s bootcamp as an initial introduction of the platform in preparation of the company’s upcoming global rollout.

Bootcamp attendees will build an actual mobile app using the City of Albuquerque’s movie locations open data set. “We’ve talked to civic leaders in cities not only here in the U.S. but across the world, and the one thing we hear consistently is that far too often the people who are inspired to create new apps for their cities often have excellent ideas but not the right technical skills to take their ideas to actual product,” says APPCityLife Founder and CEO, Lisa Abeyta. “Because our platform offers an easy-to-use system for creating apps for transit, education, and beyond, we enable non-developers to bring their ideas to fruition, and we’ve even integrated options for monetizing those products for a self-sustaining, viable public-private partnership.”

 One of Living Social’s first strategy gurus and the current founder of Seed Worthy, Maloney plans to demo his company’s first product, Bowtie, which Maloney says is the world’s first fully-integrated software launch platform. Attendees will also hear his advice and insights into the challenges of growing and the rewards of nurturing a startup. Maloney says Seed Worthy, which recently announced a new investment, expects to launch Bowtie in late 2014.

The bootcamp will even help attendees be sure they understand the areas of greatest legal exposure they face when launching a startup. Leverage Legal Group’s founder, Jessica Eaves Mathews, who was named New Mexico’s top CEO of 2013 by Albuquerque Business First, will provide what she calls "tangible action steps to start protecting what they are building from day one. This Bootcamp is really special - like nothing else that has happened in our community yet,” says Eaves Mathews. “I am thrilled to bring my expertise to this talented team." Eaves Mathews, a best-selling author and serial entrepreneur, also owns Untoxicating Beauty, LLC, an organic beauty product company, and Grace and Game, LLC, a golf clothing line for women. She has also cofounded with Lisa Abeyta a company called Hautepreneurs, a premier network to foster growth and success of women-owned startups in New Mexico.
