Love City Car Ferries' 1st Annual Back-to-School Essay Contest

ST. JOHN, Virgin Islands, U.S. - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Love City Car Ferries, Inc., the Virgin Islands premier car ferry company, is pleased to sponsor its 1st annual Back-to-School Essay Contest. The contest goals are to:

 Help inspire students around the territory to think about their island and what it means to be a Virgin Islander.

 Motivate students to think about their future.

 Encourage students to study hard and to realize that education plays a big role in their present and future success.

Eligibility

The contest is open to all 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students who attend school in US Virgin Islands. Close friends and relatives of employees, shareholders, owners, Board Members of LCCF are not eligible to apply.

The Essay

My Virgin Islands. My Future. Describe what you would like to see change in the Virgin Islands and how you think this change will impact your future.

5th Graders: Write a 75-100 word, well-thought-out essay, answering the question above, typed or handwritten on white paper.

7th Graders: Write a 100-200 word, well-thought-out essay, answering the question above, typed or handwritten on white paper.

9th Graders: Write a 200-300 word, well-thought-out essay, answering the question above, typed or handwritten on white paper.

The Prizes

One winner per grade will be selected to receive:

5th Grade PRIZE: $100

7th Grade PRIZE: $200

9th Grade PRIZE $300

And...one participating school (selected at random) will win a special prize from Love City Car Ferries, Inc.!

The Details

The contest is open to all 5th, 7th, and 9th grade students in the US Virgin Islands. All non-original work must be footnoted with a bibliography, if applicable. Essays will be judged on creativity and originality of content, grammatical accuracy, logic, and clarity. No purchase is necessary. All entries must be postmarked by September 30, 2014.
