Military Hiring Fair Hosted by America’s Future Series Yields Exceptional Results

DALLAS - Sept. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- August 12, 2014, America’s Future Series (http://www.americas-fs.org/#!upcoming-events/c21kz) (AFS) and Dallas Baptist University (http://www.dbu.edu/about-dbu/directions) (DBU) hosted a roundtable and job fair for Military and their spouses in the DFW area. The day was a huge success with high results, a lot of contacts made and personnel still interviewing and being hired.

So many fantastic companies like JPMorgan Chase, MedAssets, MedSynergies and BNSF joined forces with charities, universities and government agencies to truly collaborate", shared David Hamilton, Chairman of the America's Future Series.

The roundtable was held to kick off the day with participants learning from the top executives as a panel discussion.  57 companies participated, set up their booths and interviewed the attendees.  There were even a couple of extra companies who showed up and were set up in the hall as a way to accommodate everyone.

Companies who participated came to the hiring fair specifically seeking to hire Military personnel because they value the character, dedication and work ethic taught in the Military and possessed by these fine men and women.  The skills, experience, and leadership taught while in the Military, are exemplary traits which transfer to the corporate environment and traits that corporations often want in their employees.

Almost 4,000 jobs for the 278 participants were available through the 57 companies.  Within a two-week period, over 36 had interviews and received offers.  Now, almost 30 days since the event, many have started in their new positions and many more are still having interviews or expecting an offer.  Because of this incredible success and the need to provide this platform for our Military, plans are already underway for the next event.

"Because of these volunteers, over 36 military job seekers found employment that day. We expect roughly 50 to find employment once the interview process is complete.  That's close to a 20% success rate which is double the national average for hiring events.  Our next career event will be bigger and better and will focus on supporting veterans with career counseling, job search strategies, interviewing skills, resume writing, continued educational opportunities, etc.  This will make huge difference in helping unemployed veterans find jobs and help underemployed veterans use their skills and abilities to their full potential", John Pollard, Director of Development at Dallas Baptist University.
