Follow on Google News | Top Schools of India: EducationWorld India School Rankings 2014EducationWorld in association with C fore, Delhi conducted its annual School Rankings survey in 25 cities and education hubs across India to rate 931 schools. The country’s top schools will be felicitated in New Delhi on Sept 20.
By: EducationWorld India Sahyadri School, Pune (co-ed), Welham Girls, Dehradun (all-girls), and Bishop Cotton School, Shimla (all-boys) were ranked No.1 in the traditional/ Dhirubhai Ambani International, Mumbai (day), Indus International, Bangalore (day-cum-boarding) A total of 8,263 fees-paying parents, teachers, principals and educationists in 25 cities countrywide were interviewed by 203 field researchers of the well-reputed market research and opinion polls company Centre for Forecasting Pvt. Ltd (C fore), Delhi to rate and rank 704 of the country’s most well-known day, 84 boarding and 63 international primary-secondary schools. “Respondents were asked to rate schools on a ten-point scale – except for the vital parameter of ‘competence of faculty’ which is given double weightage -- against 14 parameters of education excellence. The scores awarded by respondents to schools under each parameter were rounded off and totalled for ranking schools in each sub-category. The outcome of this elaborate exercise is the most accurate ever comparative school rankings,” says Premchand Palety, chief executive of C fore, explaining the ratings and ranking methodology of the EducationWorld India School Rankings 2014. Moreover this year a separate table of Top 10 Government day and residential schools has been included for which 1,000 parents in the SEC B, C and D categories were also interviewed. Kendriya Vidyalaya, IIT-Madras is ranked India’s #1 government day school while Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Bhopal is the country’s #1 government boarding school. Apart from national, state, and city league tables, this year the EW India School Rankings league tables include the average exam scores of CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and CISCE (Council of Indian School Certificate Examination)- "The objective of the annual EW India School Rankings is to track and proclaim the country’s best schools as role models for the entire community of educators, and inspire top-ranked schools themselves to improve from good to great.
