By: Counting Sheep Antiques The Fall Vintage Market is being hosted by Sally Barker, owner of Counting Sheep Antiques: “It is a great opportunity to bring our local artisans and antique dealers together, and it’s a wonderful opportunity for customers who are looking for a unique piece to either finish off a room in their home, or develop a project around.” Counting Sheep Antiques offers a host of unique items: antiques, collectibles, garden accessories and home decor, ranging in style from repurposed and industrial items to hand-painted, handcrafted, shabby chic and one of a kind. Counting Sheep hosted a multi-vendor event in June, entitled “Cabinet of Curiosities,” Counting Sheep Antiques began in 1999 as a labor of love for Sally Barker in a small outbuilding next to her 1867 farmhouse. By 2010, she was able to commit full time to her passion after her husband Bob renovated their 1500 sq-ft barn to expand and become a multi-dealer shop. As a mixed media artist, Sally quickly saw the opportunity in 2011 to become a stockist of the popular Chalk Paint® Decorative Paint by Annie Sloan, and introduced Chalk Paint® to the local area. Counting Sheep is a exclusive Central Massachusetts Retailer of this innovative paint, which does not require sanding and/or priming and can quickly achieve the stylish distressed look that characterizes many of the furnishings at Counting Sheep Antiques. Sally now runs regular workshops at the store to teach customers how to use Chalk Paint® to create their own shabby chic treasures. In addition to a wonderful shopping experience, the Fall Vintage Market will provide refreshments and the opportunity to enter to win a $100 Gift Certificate to Counting Sheep Antiques. Money raised by the door prize ticket sales will go to a non-profit organization started by a friend of Sally’s called The Neighbor Bridge. They coordinate volunteers to provide assistance to neighbors in need and can be found at http://www.neighborbrigade.org.
